THE
ISLAND OF PAG is 63 kilometres
long and
only 5 kilo-metres wide. In
places its width does
not even exceed 3
kilo-metres. Pag lies in the
Velebit Channel, it is a
spur of Velebit and
belongs to the group of
Kvarner islands. Its
indented sho-reline with its
many bays and
promontories measures 269
kilometres, and
the fine sand and shingle
lapped by a crystal-line
sea form countless beaches
of singular beauty.
Most
of the hills are bare, but some are overgrown
with maquis, pine,
immortelle and sage. Its wild,
untouched nature full of
contrast and its hospitable
hosts make many visitors
return to Pag, where they
can always be sure of
finding yet undiscovered beauty.
Pag offers its guests varied experiences and
excitement, but also complete rest in the quiet,
soothing atmosphere of picturesque landscapes. |
