▪ THE ISLAND OF PAG is 63 kilometres long and

only 5 kilo-metres wide. In places its width does

not even exceed 3 kilo-metres. Pag lies in the

Velebit Channel, it is a spur of Velebit and

belongs to the group of Kvarner islands. Its

indented sho-reline with its many bays and

promontories measures 269 kilometres, and

the fine sand and shingle lapped by a crystal-line

sea form countless beaches of singular beauty.

 Most of the hills are bare, but some are overgrown

with maquis, pine, immortelle and sage.  Its wild,

untouched nature full of contrast and its hospitable

hosts make many visitors return to Pag, where they

can always be sure of finding yet undiscovered beauty.

Pag offers its guests varied experiences and

excitement, but also complete rest in the quiet,

soothing atmosphere of picturesque landscapes.

▪ The town of Pag - first appears as the ancient settlement

of Pagus, and was established as the town we know today in the 15th century, becoming the tourist, administrative and cultural center of the island of the same name. Removed from the Old Town, and fortified with towers and ramparts in gothic - renaissance stile, it was built according to the plans of Juraj Dalmatinac.

It keeps many precious works of art behind the doors of its churches, proud of its cultural heritage, tradition and customs. 

Pag and its salt pans have been living together for centuries, woven together into a fabric like a honeycomb.

 Lace makers add to the special atmosphere, stitching the luxurious laces of Pag with white thread. The famous cheese and lamb of Pag, its Zutica and Gegic wines, its sage honey, smoked ham, olives and figs have been traditionally won over centuries by its shepherds, wine - growers, farmers and fishermen.

Having arived in Pag, you become overwhelmed with a new world.    A crystal clear sea in warm coves awaits you under a blue sky, the magnificent underwater world, the shade of pine forests, numerous sports and recreation facilities, unforgetable sunsets, life in the lively late hours and nights with the song of the crickets.
